Legacy Ridge Golf Course is a municipal golf course located in Westminster, Colorado. The course, designed by renowned golf course architect Arthur Hills, offers a blend of challenging play, stunning natural scenery, and remarkable layout that appeals to golfers of various skill levels. The course is meticulously crafted to harmonize with the natural landscape of Colorado, providing a tranquil yet exciting golfing environment. I love playing Legacy Ridge Golf Course because of its approachability yet challenging layout for weekend golfers, casual golfers, and even the experienced low handicap golfers out there. From family tees to the tips (Champion teebox), the course can range in length from as short as 3,011 yards all the way up to 7,074 yards. With plenty of opportunity out there to score, Legacy Ridge is one of my personal favorite golf courses in Colorado.
Designed by the acclaimed golf architect Arthur Hills, Legacy Ridge Golf Course has garnered a reputation for its meticulous design, challenging play, and the breathtaking natural backdrop it provides to golfers in a links style layout. Let's delve into the architect's involvement, the design process, and the key features that make Legacy Ridge a standout golfing destination and, in my opinion, one of the best values for golfing in Colorado.
Arthur Hills, a revered name in the golf architecture world, is renowned for his ability to create courses that are harmoniously integrated with the natural environment. His designs are celebrated for their strategic and thoughtful layout, offering a blend of aesthetic appeal and playability. Legacy Ridge is no exception to Hills’ signature style, presenting a course that is both challenging and accessible to golfers of various skill levels.
Key Features of Legacy Ridge
Legacy Ridge is known for its playability, offering varying levels of challenge that cater to both novice and seasoned golfers. The course layout is strategic and thoughtful, with each hole offering a unique challenge and requiring different skills to navigate successfully. Golfers can expect a mix of terrains, from undulating fairways to strategically placed bunkers, ensuring a stimulating round of golf. The course is designed to be inclusive and enjoyable for all, with multiple tee boxes available to accommodate different playing abilities.
The reason I love to play Legacy Ridge golf course and one of the reasons I think it is one of the best golf courses in Colorado is because of the varying tee boxes. On any given round of golf, I may feel like testing my skills from the Champion tees (or "the tips") or see how well I can score from the Blue tees. In my experience, and if you play the course from multiple tees, you will find that the varying lengths of each hole make for a unique challenge each time. It almost feels as if you are playing a new course from the Blues, Blacks, and Champion tees. Naturally, I always recommend that golfers play the tees that they feel most comfortable from and that match your GHIN as close as possible.
