My process for researching the Titleist T100 irons included, from start to finish, a custom Titleist fitting at Lenny's golf shop near Denver, Colorado as well as several seasons of golf in different parts of the United States. I have owned the Titleist T100s irons for nearly two years, and I have put every single shot on the face of these irons. I have played the Titleist T100s at sea level in Illinois and Vermont as well as at elevation in the state of Colorado and in the Rockies.
It is important to note that I am approximately a 7 GHIN. My experience playing these irons has been extremely enjoyable and matched exactly what I was looking for. However, we must mention that every golfer has their own skill set as well as expectations on how irons should perform. We would never expect that what works for us will also work for anyone else out there in search of irons. On the other hand, I loved using these irons so much and testing them compared to Mizuno blades, PING players irons, Srixon blades, and several other options offered at Lenny's . For what I was looking for, the Titleist T100s matched my game perfectly.
Design, Technology, and Engineering of Titleist T100 Irons
The Titleist T100 irons are a classic blade design and player's club combining performance, feel, distance, and control. Though the technology behind the Titleist T100 irons is among the latest and greatest, the design itself reverts to a classic and compact aesthetic for the more accomplished player.
Titleist dubs the T100 irons as having tour preferred looks which is visible in its compact design, tour-contoured sole, and brushed chrome finish. From a design perspective, we love these irons because, not only is the design top tier but the underlying technology provides an opportunity for skilled players to shape any shot on the course with impeccable and unmatched feel.
The club heads of the Titleist T100 irons are forged from high quality carbon steel which you feel, or more appropriately barely feel, upon a successful and square strike. The irons are strategically weighted in the heel and toe of the club providing a center of gravity with more forgiveness than a traditional tour-preferred blade. I have found that the progressive blade lengths and sole widths are extremely accommodating for any shot, even the most demanding.
The Titleist T100 and T100S irons boast a Muscle Channel and fully forged face creating speed and launch that are desired by more seasoned players. This iteration of Titleist irons has also deployed a continuous cradle design that offers a best-in-class leading edge creating one of the most dynamic irons available.
Assessing Performance and Playability of Titleist T100s
According to Titleist, the T100 series offers denser T18 tungsten weights in the heel and toe of the club alongside a 2,000 degree brazing process found in the aerospace industry. What does that actually mean? The center of gravity is precisely and methodically optimized for the player looking to shape shots all over the course. The ensuing performance is incredible.
I am a 6.2 handicap and I found that the playability and performance of the Titleist T100 irons was among the best I tested at my fitting at Lenny's Golf Shop in Aurora, CO. The only exception I found was the Srixon ZX series blade which produced a very similar feel, if not slightly softer in the hands with comparable playability.
Personally, I opted for the T100S irons because I found that a square contact with the T100 irons produced a 5-10 yard net loss in distance as compared to my previous set of irons which were made by Precept in the early 2000s. Granted, the distances were interpreted by the simulator at the fitting, so it is entirely possible that the distances may have varied when taking the T100 set out to the course.
Opting for the T100S has necessitated some adjustments, namely in distance control. The "S" stands for strong and each iron is bent 2 degrees stronger than the standard lofts on the T100 set. Over time I have learned that newer clubs have progressively gotten stronger in their lofts which means that you likely will gain distance by upgrading into sets of irons made in more recent history. And yes, the technology found in the Titleist T100 and T100S also aids in improving distance while maintaining control.
Pros and Cons of the Titleist T100s
For any list of pros and cons, especially in the sport of golf, it is extremely important to keep in mind the skill level of the person reviewing the clubs. As I said, I am a 6.2 handicap and I am capable of shooting in the mid-70s or mid-80s in the same week. Other more talented and consistent players very well may have a different set of pros and cons to share with readers. Here are mine:

Are Titleist T100s forgiving?
Generally speaking the Titleist T100s are more forgiving of a player's iron than most, and not because Titleist wants to make these easier to hit, but because the technology has advanced. The Titleist T100s are a fantastic option for the skilled player to consider for working as many shots as is necessary around the course without sacrificing a great deal in forgiveness. When I tested the Titleist T100s at my local golf shop, I noticed that my mishits were landing 5-6% shorter than shots I struck well. To compare, I also tried the Srixon player's iron when considering this review, and those mishits were landing 9-11% shorter. While they may be forgiving, I would not suggest the Titleist T100s to a high handicap golfer. These irons still require a baseline level of ball-striking that may not be accessible to all golfers..
What's the difference between the Titleist T100 and T100S?
Here is a graph which shows the lofts of each club for the Titleist T100 and Titleist T100S. You'll notice that the Titleist T100S are 2 degrees stronger than its counterpart in the Titleist T100 set. All construction and technology is the same for both sets, and the only difference between them is the loft of each club.

Conclusion: Revealing Our Assessment of Titleist T100 Irons
The Titleist T100 and T100S irons are a premium set of irons offering unmatched forgiveness and feel for a blade. As soon as you get your hands on these irons, it is immediately obvious that the team at Titleist continuously raises the bar for what quality and best-in-class engineering looks like. Granted, these irons are not made for the average golfer, so if you are in need of something with more forgiveness then these are probably not the best irons for your game. Although, I will say that the Titleist T100 irons are about as approachable a blade as exists out on the market.
